Society sponsorships are an excellent way for businesses and organizations with a philanthropic component to support us in a variety of ways and be recognized for their generosity. Individuals are also welcome to contribute as sponsors.
Adopt a Collection:
JHS has many collections that require organization, improved descriptions, and preservation in order to ensure that they are properly cared for and accessible to researchers. We need your help to move ahead with this work! Donations to assist us with “processing” collections will provide for preservation and repair of manuscripts as needed, and will also enable us to properly organize, inventory, and catalog collections so that researchers can more easily identify relevant materials.
Donors who adopt one of our collections in need receive special recognition on our website and in the Newsletter. If a Finding Aid is created for the collection, donors will receive special recognition on its front page.
Gingerbread Extravaganza Sponsor: This beloved holiday tradition enchants young and old alike, and is a perfect forum for showcasing your civic commitment before the thousands of people who attend this event. The 20th Annual Gingerbread Extravaganza will be held December 8-27 at Old St. Andrew’s Church, 317 A. Philip Randolph Blvd. Click here to be a sponsor.
Merrill House Museum Sponsor: The Merrill House Museum is Jacksonville’s only Victorian era tour house. Built in 1878 for the James E. Merrill family, the furnishings in the two-story home include period-appropriate furniture, clothing, toys and decor, as well as items from the Merrill family collection. Tours are available by appointment only by volunteer docents, but a sponsorship will enable us to offer regularly scheduled tours by paid staff.
Heritage Education Sponsor: The Heritage Education Program seeks to educate and instill a sense of pride to youths in the Jacksonville community about their history, culture and customs. Sponsorship contributions are needed to development classroom materials costs and field trip expenses.
Workshop and Outreach Sponsor: Throughout the year, the Society holds a number of programs, including our popular Oral History Workshop. Contributions are used to cover the cost of hosting/producing each event.
Speaker Series Program Sponsor: Each year, the Society holds monthly lecture and receptions by keynote speakers on a variety of topics relating to the history, culture and architecture of Jacksonville. A wine and hors d’oeuvres reception precedes the lecture. These are extremely well-attended events that are a highlight benefit of membership. Sponsorship contributions are used to cover the costs of speakers, catering, and beverages.
