On the morning of January 20, JHS Archivist Mitch Hemann, board member Harry Reagan and Executive Director Alan Bliss represented the Jacksonville Historical Society at a gathering to witness the implosion of Jacksonville’s old (ca. 1960) City Hall. The observation event was attended by numerous past and present city officials, and we recorded brief remarks by several, recalling some of the events that they associated with the building. A lot of good things began there, and many of today’s leading officials remember having their very first experience of local government in those offices and hallways. Do you have a recollection of the old City Hall that you would share? Please let us know. We would like to record your thoughts as well!
