At JHS’s Annual Meeting, which was held Tuesday, May 24th, at 6:30 p.m., the membership approved our slate of new board nominees. We would like to introduce you to these three outstanding inviduals:
Michael Fackler earned his undergraduate degree in history with a focus on African History from Northwestern University in 1994. From 1996-98, Michael served as a Peace Corps Volunteer in Rybnik, Poland, teaching English as a second language and playing “professional” baseball. Michael received his Juris Doctor Degree from University of Florida, and after graduation, Michael clerked for the Honorable Harvey E. Schlesinger, United States District Court Judge. Michael has served as President of the Jacksonville Chapter of the Federal Bar Association and as President of the First Coast Returned Peace Corps Volunteers, Inc. Michael is pleased to follow in his father’s footsteps as a member of the JHS Board.
Drew Brundick Haramis is a Jacksonville native. The foundation of her love of Florida and Jacksonville history came from her father who, from the time she was a little girl, always pointed out places of historical interest. As a direct descendent of Columbus Drew, one of the founders of Jacksonville, her family has strong ties to the city. She feels fortunate that her love of history has become her passion as well as her profession. She teaches 3rd grade Jacksonville and Florida history at St. Mark’s Episcopal Day School. Always active in her community, Drew has chaired the Cummer and Red Rose Balls, and served on the Jacksonville Fire Museum Advisory Board and the Board of Angels for Allison. She is looking forward to working with the Jacksonville Historical Society.
Anzhelika Siloyan was born in Krasnodar and raised in Sochi, Russia–a diverse resort city on the coast of the Black Sea. She grew up bilingual, speaking Armenian and Russian in a multicultural community before moving to California at 16 years old. She has been a resident of the First Coast since 2004. She earned a Master’s Degree in Business Administration from Jacksonville University as well as her undergraduate degree in International Business from University of North Florida. She serves as the Engagement Director for TEDxJacksonville and is a member of the Jacksonville Leadership class of 2017.
